I am a web production and system development professional based in Kanazawa. I originally started my career with an interest in music, but gradually began to focus on the fields of web production and system development. Currently, I am particularly focused on disseminating tourist information about my home city of Kanazawa. Facebook
Early Career in Music and Web Development
I started making music when I was in high school, and as an extension of that, I set up a website to promote my work on the internet, which was my first step into web production. In 1999, I established my own internet label, K-MUSICLIFE, and started running my own website. It was during this period that I learned programming and focused on building a web community, including setting up a noticeboard. Through this experience, I acquired skills in server construction and web system development, and began working on various projects using PHP, Python, and JavaScript.
Expansion into Video Distribution and International Recognition
In the 2000s, I tried my hand not only at music distribution but also at video distribution, using RealPlayer and ASF, the most advanced technologies at the time, to transmit original content. When YouTube emerged, I set up the K-MUSICLIFE channel, where I combined natural sounds and music with videos. In 2012, the channel was selected for Google NextUp 2012, bringing it to international attention.
Launching ‘Beauty Hokuriku’ and Promoting Kanazawa Tourism
However, my real turning point came in 2015, when I launched the web media ‘Beauty Hokuriku’ to disseminate information on Kanazawa City’s sightseeing, on the occasion of the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train. The aim of this media was to widely promote the history, culture, and tourist attractions of Kanazawa City, and I handled the entire process myself, from interviewing and filming to site construction and content production. The project was successful enough that the site received close to one million views per month. While it made me acutely aware of the limitations of the content of Kanazawa City, it was also a valuable experience for me to re-recognize the importance of community-based information dissemination.
Continuing Development of Locally-Based Services
Since then, I have received many requests for website production and system development and have also been involved in the development of locally-based services. For example, I developed a series of services that are useful for local residents, such as a service that allows users to browse Kanazawa’s junior high school districts on a map, and a news service that analyzes address information and displays it on a map. More recently, I have also been developing systems utilizing AI and IoT and have received numerous consulting requests from major companies in the Hokuriku region.
Commitment to Kanazawa and Future Endeavors
I have a deep love for the city of Kanazawa and feel it is my mission to spread the word about its attractions, and I will continue to actively work on projects that can contribute to the region.
